I have done something I have never done before....I took a vacation. "Wait", you say...you go places all the time but this was truly a vacation. After Emily had some surgery on Friday we brought her to the mountains to recover for a couple of days and relax. So that meant I got to relax to...and relax I did. Relaxed to the point that even cooking was enjoyable. No cellphone meant that I couldn't be talking or texting and I've enjoyed it. I feel blessed beyond measure. I have taken in the beauty of the world by looking at the mountain while sitting on the deck, been reminded I am still needed in taking care of Emily again, and enjoyed serving by just being the person I am. I have not obsessed over paperwork for work or one of my many service projects. I have been blessed this weekend by stopping the frantic pace and enjoying the calm. I have found I am best for my family when I don't do so much others but do for them. I am going home a changed person.....a better person.
